Recently there has been a lot of talk of a weakening U.S. dollar, and whether the dollar may lose its status as the world’s reserve currency. While the U.S. dollar has weakened recently relative to a basket of other currencies, the U.S. dollar by far and away continues to be the predominant currency held as a reserve currency. While the dollar may continue to weaken in the near term, no other options exist that provide the same level of stability as the U.S. dollar to serve as the world’s reserve currency.
